That’s where all really good stories start, isn’t it?

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Frances Ferland, who dreamed of teaching literature at college.

So I grew up and did my four years of undergrad, plus three more years of graduate school. I earned two Master’s Degrees. I published a couple of short stories and a poem or two. I was contemplating a PhD. I even got a teaching job at a local college.

Only problem? I hated it.

I traveled, usually by RV, and indulged my twenty-year passion for photography in my downtime, but teaching was…not me. Still, I stuck it out for four years.

Then the pandemic hit.

Teaching over Zoom was even worse.

I quit my job and I went to work for my Dad’s construction company, part-time.

In 2021, a friend and I started a podcast called Grave Escape and I volunteered to build our Squarespace website. I’ve blogged, YouTubed, Facebooked, Snapped, fanfic’d, and basically all the rest, so —I figured—why not try this?

Suddenly, I was obsessed.
